The first edition of the IWARA was held in Olinda-PE (Brazil)) in 2003, when astrophysicists, astronomers and scientists working in nuclear and high-energy particle physics, met for the first time with the intention of showing their latest results on a variety of topics involving new phenomena and new states of matter in the universe. The second was held in Natal-RGN (Brazil- 2005), the third in João Pessoa-PB (Brazil- 2007), the fourth in Maresias-SP (Brasil- 2009) and the last edition again in João Pessoa-PB (Brazil - 2011).
The main subject of the IWARA in the last five editions was "New Phenomena and New States of Matter in the Universe". Contributions in the realms of General Relativity, Gravitation, Cosmology, Heavy Ion Collisions and the Quark-Gluon Plasma, White Dwarfs, Neutron Stars and Pulsars, Black Holes, Gamma Ray Bursts, High-Energy Cosmic Rays, Gravitational Waves, Dark Matter and Dark Energy, Strange Matter and Strange Stars, Antimatter and Ion Research and Cosmic Matter in the Laboratory, are traditionally included among the topics covered in the Workshop. As in the previous editions, the IWARA 2013 will promote a scientific environment marked by a friendly atmosphere, fruitful discussions and intensive exchange of ideas.
