From 15th to 18th September 2014
Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas – CBPF
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Dear Colleagues,
The 4th International Meeting on Magnetotactic Bacteria (MTB2014) will be held at the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (CBPF), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Historically, the study of magnetotaxis in Brazil has begun with the interest of Dr. Jacques Dannon, a former CBPF scientist, in South seeking MTB and the visit of Dr. Richard Frankel to introduce the theme in the beginning of 1980.
The aim of MTB 2014 is the discussion of new insights and experiments on the behavior of magnetotactic microorganisms in all their aspects. We believe that this event will bring new ideas and collaborations among different groups worldwide. We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to the meeting. The CBPF is at Urca´s neighborhood near Sugar Loaf mountain and Copacabana beach. The region offers a stimulating place to discuss science and to have nice relaxing times.
The CBPF is a research center that belongs to the Brazillian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). CBPF was founded in 1949 from a joint effort of Cesar Lattes, José Leite Lopes, and Jayme Tiomno. Throughout its existence, CBPF became an internationally renowned research institution, organizing several international meetings and hosting many renowned physicists, like Richard Feynman and J. Robert Oppenheimer. Since its creation, CBPF has been one of the most important Physics research institutions in Brazil, and its graduate program ranks among the best in the country.
