The DELPHI-LAFEX group is a joint collaboration of scientists from three different institutions in Rio, that is: LAFEX - Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas, PUC-Rio - Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro and UERJ - Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
DELPHI is one of the four experiments on the Electron Positron Collider, LEP, at CERN, Geneva. This experiment, mesuring the consequences of e+e- collisions ranging in energy from 91 GeV at present to 200 GeV in the next few years, has been taking data since the second half of 1989.
DELPHI experiment involves more than 500 scientists representing 54 institutions coming from all over Europe, USA and Brazil.
The LAFEX group contributes to many different aspects of the physics studied at DELPHI: the Higgs Search, the Production of Isolated Photons in Hadronic Decays of the Z0, the Properties of Taus and b-quark Hadrons Produced in the Decay of the Z0.
The group participates in the MicroVertex Detector Project, in the Data Acquisition and Trigger Project and on the Off-line Software of experiment.
